The Project
The aim of the project is to spread marine awareness around Malaysia via organising a roadshow of events at malls, offices, universities and colleges. The events will focus around the precious plastic machines and a new novel portable marine awareness escape room. Additionally you will be helping to raise funds for our conservation projects in Malaysia. Find out more about our shop here and Precious Plastic in general here.
The Role of the Fundraising and Events Internship
As the Fundraising and Events Co-Ordinator Intern, you will help co-ordinate in person and virtual events for both our Precious Plastic Merchandise and machines, a portable marine awareness escape room and virtual events promoting our projects.
This role is preferably to be based at home with weekly meetings in Kl/Selangor, Malaysia or virtually and they will be working with our small marketing and sales team in KL. The successful candidate must have their own laptop/computer and internet connection.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Events
■ Organise and lead a series of events at universities, shopping malls and other events to host our precious plastic merchandise and portable escape room.
■ Write to other organisations to seek potential partners and distributors of our merchandises.
■ Provide assistance and support to our partners/distributors in terms of sales of the product.
■ Lead with our team on the day for the events.
■ Planning and implementing digital campaigns including content marketing, email marketing, video marketing, social media and PR around the events.
■ Write a monthly report of your work
Fundraising
■ Organise and lead a series of virtual events with other brands like ecomadic where our projects share about their experiences with the aim of building awareness around our causes as well as encouraging sales of our merchandise and donations.
■ Update the grants database and inform management about the latest grants so they can apply.
■ Work with the team to develop potential new fundraising ideas.
Personal Specification
■ Excellent communication skills, verbal and written in English.
■ Knowledge of languages such as Bahasa Malaysia an advantage, but not essential.
■ Good organizational skills are essential.
■ Good digital and social media skills.
■ Ability to think creatively and innovatively.
■ Able to work remotely will meet with the team once a week.
Requirements
- Passion for marine issues.
- Able to write well in english.
- Able to commit to a minimum of 3 months.
- Highly organised and ability to work to a schedule.
- Team player but also comfortable working independently.
- Efficient time management skills and able to meet deadlines.
- Good attention to detail.
- Flexible and adaptable to various environment and culture.
- IT competency.
