The Project

We run marine projects throughout Malaysia including projects focused on sea turtles, involving the local youth to dive and help with marine conservation efforts and community led recycling projects in KL. We have many sub projects under our main projects and are seeking grants to help expand our efforts.  Additionally you will be helping with leading CSR activities in KL if you are based in Malaysia. 

The Role of the Grant and Fundraising Internship

As the Grant and Fundraising Intern, you will help manage our database of grants and ensure we apply to grants which are suitable for our projects.  You will learn from experienced grant writers whom have raised over RM3million worth of grants in 5 years. You will also help co-ordinate in person and virtual events for our projects, including a portable marine awareness escape room and virtual events promoting our projects.

This role is preferably to be based at home with weekly meetings in KL/Selangor, Malaysia or virtually and they will be working with our small marketing and sales team in KL.  The successful candidate must have their own laptop/computer and internet connection.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Grants

■ Organise and expand our grants database.
■ Write to other organisations to seek potential partnerships.
 With guidance from the project managers, help write the grant applications.

Fundraising

■ Planning and implementing digital campaigns including content marketing, email marketing, video marketing, social media and PR around the events.
■  Write a monthly report of your work.
■ Organise and lead a series of virtual events with other brands like ecomadic where our projects share about their experiences with the aim of building awareness around our causes as well as encouraging sales of our merchandise and donations.
■ Work with the team to develop potential new fundraising ideas.

Personal Specification

■ Excellent communication skills, verbal and written in English.
■ Knowledge of languages such as Bahasa Malaysia an advantage, but not essential.
■ Good organizational skills are essential.
■ Good digital and social media skills.
■ Ability to think creatively and innovatively.
■ Able to work remotely will meet with the team once a week.

Requirements

  • Passion for marine issues.
  • Able to write well in english.
  • Able to commit to a minimum of 3 months.
  • Highly organised and ability to work to a schedule.
  • Team player but also comfortable working independently.
  • Efficient time management skills and able to meet deadlines.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Flexible and adaptable to various environment and culture.
  • IT competency.
